Shaolin Records was launched in 1984, from Santa Monica, California with the release of the vinyl album, TEMPTATION by Richard O'Connor.
This record found its way into FOLK MUSIC radio stations--and was immediately rejected by some of them.
COUNTRY MUSIC Radio Stations took a hankerin' to many of the songs on the album, especially, "All Screwed Up," and, "Simple Lady."
CLASSICAL ROCK Radio Stadions felt comfortable adding our songs to their playlists...but we didn't think we were classic rock since this was a new release.
FOLK ROCK is what we decided to call American Zen.
It hasn't worked well. Folk Rock music is not a "real" current musical style... OR IS IT?
When we launched the FOLK ROCK PODCAST OF SHAOLIN RECORDS, we discovered a plethora of FOLK ROCK ARTISTS all around the world.
It also appeared that today's youth have reawakened their interest in SAVING THE WORLD.
Shaolin Records is proud and excited to discover, share, and support this new breed of folk rock emerging world wide.
Richard Connor is the founder and record producer of Shaolin Records.
With THE HIPPY COYOTE hosting the Folk Rock Podcast of Shaolin Records, the world gets to discover what today's folk rock HEROES have to say...and play.
Shaolin Records, founded 1984 by Richard Del Connor.
Thanks for your support and interest in folk rock music.
Sincerely,
Richard Connor
